Michael Hennessey

Name: Michael Hennessey – Chair of Governors

Meetings attended: SPD, Personnel, Finance, Curriculum

Governor responsibility: PSHE, RE & Healthy Schools

I have been a governor since July 2001 and Chair of Governors for some years now! I am a retired teacher and taught at Helsby High School for 29 years before taking (very) early retirement in 2001. I was Assistant Headteacher for the last 17 of the 29 years and I taught Religious Studies and Sociology at A level.

I am an active Quaker, having held a whole range of voluntary positions, both at local and national level. I do quite a lot of adult education with Quakers all over the UK and have contributed to a number of Quaker publications.

I have been a voluntary worker with the (now) Halton, Warrington and Cheshire West Youth Offending Service for the last 12 years, working on and often chairing community panels. I also do voluntary work with Runcorn Food Bank.

I am married and have two married daughters and five lovely grandchildren.

Name:                                                         Will Howell – Vice Chair of Governors

Meetings attended:                                     Personnel and Finance

Governor responsibility:                              ICT

I worked for ICL/Fujitsu for 33 years and have since worked at a small IT company that supply business systems and services for the last 10 years.

My ICT skills are not really technical (though not surprisingly I am pretty well up to date), but more on the business and management side.

My highlights through my reasonably lengthy time at Fujitsu include managing the whole validation and release process  for our large computer operating system (like releasing Windows 7 but on a small scale) and then as part of the then start up Internet business managing all our projects  and services as we grew a 500 person business from nothing.
