Holocaust Memorial Day

Staff and students attended the Robert Bolt Theatre, Sale waterside, to attend the Holocaust memorial day event : torn from home. The day was supported by various Trafford schools and organised by Barby Phillips and Sandra Stewart. We heard from The South Manchester senior Rabbi, rabbi David Lewis and speaker Eric Roth told the story ‘Torn from home’, the tale of  his fathers survival as a Jew during the war. We enjoyed a Gypsy Ballet performed to the Romani anthem @Djelem, Djelem’, poetry from Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College and finished with a choir from Springfield primary school.

Learners got the chance to speak with the Major of Trafford, police commissioner and Rabbi’s Lewis, Portnoy and Ellituv in a meet and greet ending to the sombre yet beautiful event.
