Covid News

April 2022

Follwoing the withdrawal of furtehr Covid Restrictions from April 1st children are now only required to isolate after a positive test for 3 days and adults 5 days when at their most infectious

The temporary provisions in the Coronavirus Act 2020 expired on 24 March 2022. As a result the Remote Education (England) Temporary Continuity (No.2) direction no longer has effect.

Non-statutory guidance is available to schools on maintaining their capabilities to deliver high quality remote education in cases where it is not possible or contrary to government guidance for some or all pupils to attend face-to-face education.

The priority should always be for schools to deliver high-quality face-to-face education to all pupils. Remote education should only ever be considered as a short-term measure and as a last resort where in person attendance is not possible.

From 24 February 2022, the Government will remove the legal requirement to self-isolate following a positive test. In addition, the Government will no longer ask fully vaccinated close contacts and those aged under 18 to test daily for 7 days and routine contact tracing will end.

Adults and children who test positive will continue to be advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for at least 5 full days and then continue to follow the guidance until they have received 2 negative test results on consecutive days.

Staff, children and young people who are contacts should attend their education settings as usual.  This includes staff who have been in close contact within their household, unless they are able to work from home.
